So, I found blueberries on sale for $1.00/carton at my local grocery store, and of course I thought what anyone else would have thought....homemade blueberry syrup. So I bought 20 cartons and came right home and got my canning stuff out of storage. In an attempt to teach my kids how FUN and easy it is to make your own healthy food, I incorporated their help. They helped wash the berries, and then they were done. :)
It was a very easy process. It took about 1 hour to make 5 1/2 pints of blueberry syrup. I could have made more, but I decided to freeze half of the berries for another day.
When we were done, I made pancakes for the kids for bed snack and let them taste the blueberry syrup. They loved it, and were so excited that they "helped" make it!
